New Poem – Between

Between This is not your soul to do with what you would, I have control and am not happy with your constant advances. Let these fingers gnarl with age and these eyes dim from disappointment. When I sit down to make a decision I would like solitude to be the only sound I hear. I kiss her navel before gripping her hips to position myself lower. I can taste the vague salt, and sweetness on her skin and I am broken...

Overdue for a Visit with My Psych

Back in April I accidentally missed an appointment with my psychologist.  I didn’t do it on purpose, but I was so embarrassed that I didn’t reschedule.  I eventually ran out of medicine and am only now going back to the doc to get new scripts.  I haven’t taken my Prozac or Lithium in months…I know, I know, definitely not a great idea.  I am honestly not sure why I do this every once in awhile....

How Long Can I Keep Pretending?

I am going to leave for another East coast road trip in a week, but all I can think about is how I just want to drive off a cliff, or re-route the exhaust into the car and just go to sleep…forever.  I plan on staying in Providence, RI for the week, and just relaxing, exploring the city, enjoying the drive through the fall foliage, etc. It’s funny, though, because I am kind of glad I am feeling this way again....

I Met Freedy Johnston!

I saw Freedy Johnston play an 1:20 long set to support a fundraiser for a Pittsburgh public radio station – WYEP.  I saw him play at the Club Cafe in Pittsburgh earlier this year as well.  This is the third Freedy show I’ve seen and it was the best one yet.  He played songs from Never Home, Rain on the City, Can You Fly, This Perfect World, and Right Between the Promises…and he played a new song! The...

Great Fall Albums – My Top 5

Top-5 Fall Albums These are the albums that for me, epitomize Fall and all the glory she is.  Each of these albums were (and still are) an important part of my life during the influential and inspiring months of Fall.  In Cleveland, Ohio we get fairly short Fall seasons sometimes, but I’ll take what I can get.  Even though I love late September through mid-November, they are also the times when I’ve had some...

Can’t Stop Watching The Wedding Singer

So I’ve seen The Wedding Singer about 50 times…and I am actually watching it again as I am writing this.  I personally think this is Adam Sandler’s finest film, and Drew Barrymore does a great job in it as well.  They have such strong chemistry that it seems more than just the usual romantic comedy where everything seems forced and it’s about the jokes, not the characters.  For me, The Wedding...

Fiddling Around with a New Layout

Don’t panic, the madness doesn’t have me yet!  I am just looking for a better theme that suits the Daily Depression in its current form.  I will be switching themes and styles over the coming week pretty regularly.  I’ve already switched platforms from Blogger to WordPress.  I also moved the site to its own domain (which I’ve owned for about five years now, so it will have one consolidated home...

‘It’s Kind of a Funny Story’

I was in my local movie theater the other day, and I saw this trailer for a movie called ‘It’s Kind of a Funny Story’, and I could feel the goose bumps. I even felt my eyes get a little foggy…I couldn’t help translating what I was seeing on the screen through my own experiences years ago. I was in a mental hospital twice for extended stays, and during my first visit, I was pretty young as well...
